Danny blackmails the record company rep that he used to work for as
a chart fixer into coming to one of their gigs, but a strike by the electricity
board causes a power cut which threatens to ruin everything. Just as the
audiance is becomming angry, Kate saves the day with an acapella version
of [Who Needs It ?]. |

Success follows with a record deal [Top
Of The Wheel]. The record company are insistant that the band attend
some major events for publicity, including Rock Against 1984 in Notting
Hill. As the band are preparing to leave, they are confronted by a Nazi
march which leads to a riot [Blackman]
during which a protestor is killed in front of Kate. |
Tension builds within the band as pressure is put onto them to get
an album out on the wave of publicity from the riot, despite Kate's exhaustion
and failing health. The decision is made to get a professional producer,
Bob Woods (Jon Finch), in to try and smoothe the process [Who
Calls The Tune]. |

Under the guidance of Woods, Kate makes a video. But the stress
is getting to her and she is perscribed some pills to keep her going.
Danny starts to get jealous of Wood's intreat in Kate and in the end quits
as the manager of Breaking Glass. [Will
You ?]. |
